Well, it’s come to this. The federal government has declined our application to receive several billion dollars as part of the blogging bailout fund – something about wanting us to give up our private jets – and Lit Between the Ears is turning to its readers, listeners, and partners for support.

Less than one dollar

For only 99 cents, you can help keep an obscure radio dramatist employed, buy an ink cartridge for his printer, and replace the bulb in his desk lamp that burns out every seven days.

You can also be part of creating Mayonnaise in My Cake, the second volume of the Lit Between the Ears anthology series. Mayonnaise is being assembled publicly on our blog. As of today’s date, Mayonnaise is a list of ingredients and may be found at the following link:

Ninety-nine cents helps cover some of the costs associated with the book such as layout, editing, and proofreading. We are also doing preliminary work on identifying artwork for the front and back covers. Click the link below to donate 99 cents:

Don’t believe it? Consider our first book

The first book – Chekhov, O. Henry, Spear and Tarkington On the Air – was published in July of 2006. It includes original and adapted works, cast lists and synopses, and a glossary of radio drama terms.
The entire contents of the book may be found at the following link:

October 1, 2009 – Believe, Simply Believe

The Table of Contents for Mayonnaise in My Cake and Other Delights is shaping up as follows:

1. Mayonnaise in My Cake (short story)

2. The Passing of Johnny Parks (radio play about a tribute to sportscaster Johnny Parks)

2.1. The Industrial Football League (signature poetic descriptions by Johnny Parks of the teams of the IFL)

3. It Suits Her

4. The Splendor in Midland (work-in-progress adaptation of The Magnificent Ambersons; begun in Volume One)

4.1. Back in Midland (title song)

5. The Empty Table (dramatization of the Missing Man and Honors Table)

6. Giving Bells (short story)

7. Swing for the Fences (baseball)

We’ll be posting finished stories and scripts, drafts, and material related to Mayonnaise in My Cake.

The goal is to have the full book published by October 1, 2009 with a bit of help from readers, listeners, and partners and a couple of 99 cent donations:

It is a long road but we will continue to:

Believe, Simply Believe
