Saturday, July 28 – tonight! – from 10 pm – midnight on 89.3 KPCC, L.A. Theatre Works’ The Play’s the Thing completes its broadcast of Alan Ayckbourn’s comic trilogy, “The Norman Conquests,” with Part 3: Round and Round the Garden starring Martin Jarvis, Rosalind Ayres, Carolyn Seymour, Ken Danzinger, Jane Leeves and Christopher Neame.  The third installment returns us to the same weekend in the country, but this time to the quiet setting of Mother’s overgrown English country garden.  Something more troublesome than brambles is lurking among the roses in the form of Norman, the assistant librarian whose conquests, unlike those of the warrior race to whom he presumably owes his name, are amorous rather than military.  Heavily laced with lunacy, Ayckbourn examines the foibles of the English middle class, mixing hilarity with pointed social comment.  The broadcast includes an interview with Alan Ayckbourn.
