Greetings to The Ancient Radio Players February 11, 2007Posted by William Spear in >> News.
Lit Between the Ears welcomes The Ancient Radio Players, a radio troupe based out of Ada, OK. The group has been together since 1999 and has performed a number of shows–both studio and live performances. Bret Jones, of The Ancient Radio Players, provides this introduction:
. . .
The majority of our work has been broadcast by 106.5 KTLS in Ada; we have also had one of our shows broadcast by KCCU in Lawton–an NPR station. The group has been featured on KFOR’s “Is This a Great State, or What?” with Galen Culver, SPERDVAC’s Radiogram newsletter, in The Oklahoma Today magazine, and in The Daily Oklahoman. Our shows are similar to performances from the “golden age” of radio with actors behind the microphones with scripts and the power of their voices.
We do a number of programs that range from action/adventure to horror to comedy/variety. Our shows include The Okie Red Dust Review, Dark Sanctuary, and Mystery, Incorporated. I write all of the shows and we have a group of musicians that write all the songs and music for our live performances. We have performed shows around our home state: Ada, Frederick, Shawnee, Lindsay, Holdenville, Bethany, Pauls Valley, McAlester, McLoud, Stratford, and at the Oklahoma City Arts Festival. We have also been invited to perform at The Friends of Old Time Radio convention in Newark, NJ in 2007.
. . .
Thanks, Bret, for the information. We look forward to The Ancient Radio Players’ performances.
