On October 21, 2007, X-Viper Hour, from the studios of WHCL at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, aired Faculty Stars. The program included a production of ”The Wager” (from Lit Between the Ears, Volume One) and “The Tom Keeler Murder Case” from Broadway is My Beat.
At the time, Faculty Stars was the second show in XVH’s history primarily consisting of faculty members performing radio drama. Performing an adaptation of the classic short story The Bet, The Wager is a gripping story of a self-imprisoned man and the woman who bet him he couldn’t do it. “The Tom Keeler Murder Case” is a mystery that will keep you on your toes about a man who was mudered . . . twice!
Faculty Stars included Professors Pierce, Kelly, Doran, Strout, Bedient, and Dean Urgo. Also with Jen Mitchell, Katie Myers, Rich Sonne, and Mark Fitzsimmons.
Excerpts:
“Broadway’s my beat. From Times Square to Columbus Circle, the gaudiest, the most violent, the lonesomest mile in the world.” – Detective Danny Clover
“No . . . no . . . no. That’s not true. I bet five million you wouldn’t stay in solitary confinement for five years.” – Young Geraldine Downes arguing with Pat Chains
