Link Exchange and Resources

We welcome opportunities to exchange links with others who make great sounds. Lit Between the Ears cherishes the people and organizations who make the world sound bolder, funnier, grander, louder, scarier, or sillier. Or, if you prefer, more dramatic, more enigmatic, more hilarious, more musical, more quiet, more radical, more tuneful, or more wacky.

Hi William -

Thank you for your kind note at my blog. It seems so many books are female POV. However, some of the most touching I’ve read come from the male perspective. I believe that to truly write female POV well, one should also understand the male POV – a challenge at first whether you’re a male or female writer!

Please feel free to ask me anything… and thank you for stopping by!

- Julie

P.S. I find your website intriguing – my grandmother was a member of the Singing Strings all-girl band on the Charlie McCarthy show in the 1930s. :-)

Julie,

Thanks for the note; please accept for consideration the reverse observation: to write the male POV, the female POV must be understood and respected.

As an aside, maybe discussing how sound establishes/advances POVs would be a worthwhile conversation.

Also, YOU ROCK with the reference to your grandmother performing with the Singing Strings from the Charlie McCarthy show. Please further accept free rein/reign to share stories of your grandmother on the radio.

Warm regards,

William

Just browsing around the internet for the “Singing Strings” and wow! My grandmother was also in the Singing Strings! Her name was Evelyn Marshall and she played guitar. I am unsure how long she played with the band, surely it was in the late 30s, early 40s. She was playing with the band when they were featured in the Ritz Brothers movie, Argentine Nights. :)

Though, there were quite a few “Singing Strings” groups. Very likely could be a different one. lol
