Why radio works: A “pastoral emergency” August 24, 2007

Earlier today, my church was contacted to secure proof of baptism. Upon ringing their business office - an unexpected internal designation for a church - the voice menuing system promptly delivered the following:
“Our business office is currently closed. However, if this a ‘pastoral emergency’, please call . . .”
A “pastoral emergency”? What a brilliant line for a comedy routine.
Radio works. Sometimes in divine ways, but radio works.
